Min: Russia prepares measures for Internet stable work, no control
MOSCOW, Feb 16 (PRIME) -- Russia’s communications ministry is preparing proposals to ensure sustainable work of the Internet, but has no plans to put traffic under control, Minister Nikolai Nikiforov told reporters Tuesday.
“To put it in simple words, the Russian Internet represents about 1,500 separate systems, which are linked to each other in a certain way and to the external world,” Nikiforov said.
“The problem is that if imagine that Internet and connection channels are an analogue of a network of roads or cities, where every house has its address, in case with the Internet information on what house has which number is today located not in Russia, but in Amsterdam, and is managed from the outside.”
Mass media earlier reported that the government is preparing ideas to monitor the use of global resources and addresses, among others.
